The effect of the developmental therapy curriculum on the social adaptive ability for children with autistic disorder

Abstract

|
Autistic disorder children usually have deficits in sociality. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to apply developmental therapy in four areas(behavioral area, communicative area, social area, scholastic achievement area) to the autistic behavior children who can¢¥t keep the proper interpersonal relationship with others in society to increase the social adaptive ability of the children.
The subjects selected for this study consist of one child with autistic disorder are three children with mental retardation who have similar problems. life experimental design of this study pc-and post- design and evaluated the feature of changes using UTORF(Developmental Therapy Objectives Rating Form) and Hyunki Shin¢¥s Social Adaptive Ability Test.
The results of this study were as follows:
1. In the area of self-care skill, they got a 21.2% improvement.
2. In the area of social skills in the classroom skill, they got a 12.2% improvement and social skills in the school, they get a 8.3% improvement.
3. In the area of personal relation skill and appropriate reaction skill, they got a 21.2% and 11.1%improvement.
